During the Remembrance retreat, we explore the seven Chakras.
Every choice we make, every relationship we build, every fear we encounter and every act of love is expressed through energy. The seven Chakras form an inner map that shows us how our life lesson is expressed through our body, emotions, thoughts, relationships and our connection with life.
Every Chakra invites us to develop another aspect of our life. Together, they create a journey of awareness through which we can embody our life lesson.
In the Remembrance guide book (only available trough our Remembrance retreat), you’ll find an explanation of the seven Chakras. Balance among the Chakras is important for good health, vitality, and mental well-being. In this post we want to give you some tips on how to recognize imbalanced or blocked Chakras and how to balance each Chakra.
Root Chakra: Muladhara
An imbalanced Root Chakra can manifest as chronic anxiety, feelings of insecurity, financial worry, lower back pain, fatigue, or a persistent sense that the ground beneath you is unstable. You may feel disconnected from your physical body or struggle with basic trust in life’s ability to provide for you.
How to balance it:
- You can take care of the Root Chakra by spending time in nature with bare feet on the earth.
- Practice grounding meditations that visualize roots extending from your body deep into the soil.
Sacral Chakra: Svadhisthana
When the Sacral Chakra is blocked, you may experience emotional numbness, creative stagnation, fear of intimacy, guilt around pleasure, or difficulty adapting to change. Physical symptoms can include lower abdominal discomfort, reproductive issues, or urinary problems.
How to balance it:
- Engage in creative activities like painting, dancing, or writing without judgment.
- Spending time near water and staying well hydrated can also help balance the Sacral Chakra.
Solar Plexus Chakra: Manipura
A blocked Solar Plexus Chakra often shows up as low self-esteem, indecisiveness, people-pleasing tendencies, control issues, or digestive problems. You may feel powerless, overly critical of yourself, or unable to set healthy boundaries.
How to balance it:
- Eat a healthy, balanced diet and move your body.
- Practice core-strengthening exercises and power poses.
- Work on your self-confidence and willpower.
- Repeat affirmations like “I am confident and worthy”.
- Surround yourself with the color yellow and spend time in sunlight.
Heart Chakra: Anahata
When the Heart Chakra is imbalanced, you may struggle with giving or receiving love, experience jealousy or codependency, hold grudges, feel emotionally closed off, or suffer from heart-related physical issues, respiratory problems, or upper back tension.
How to balance it:
- Embrace compassion, forgiveness and gratitude. For example, keep a gratitude or forgiveness journal.
- Practice loving-kindness meditation.
- Spend time in nature surrounded by green.
- Nurture your relationships with genuine presence.
Throat Chakra: Vishuddha
A blocked Throat Chakra can manifest as difficulty speaking up, fear of judgment, chronic sore throats, thyroid imbalances, or the tendency to either talk excessively without substance or withdraw into silence. You may feel unheard, misunderstood, or unable to articulate what you truly feel.
How to balance it:
- Encourage honest communication and self-expression.
- Practice mindful speaking and active listening.
- Sing, chant, or hum regularly.
- Journal your thoughts freely.
- Surround yourself with the color blue.
Third Eye Chakra: Ajna
An imbalanced Third Eye Chakra can lead to confusion, indecisiveness, poor judgment, headaches, eye strain, nightmares, or difficulty distinguishing between intuition and fear. You may feel disconnected from your inner wisdom or overly reliant on external validation for decisions.
How to balance it:
- Strengthen your intuition through meditation and silence.
- Meditate with your eyes closed, focusing on the space between your brows.
- Practice visualization exercises using the color indigo.
- Trust your intuitive impulses.
Crown Chakra: Sahasrara
An imbalanced Crown Chakra can manifest as spiritual disconnection, cynicism, lack of purpose, chronic fatigue, depression, or an inability to find meaning in life. Conversely, an overactive crown chakra may lead to spiritual bypassing: using spirituality to avoid dealing with practical, earthly matters.
How to balance it:
- Connect with your spirituality.
- Engage in meditation, prayer, or other contemplative practices.
- Spend time in silence and stillness.
- Practice gratitude.
